How To Kill Misery And Get Happy!
How do you “kill” misery and breakthrough to happiness? Does that mean you have to get aggressive and destructive and “fight” your way out of negative emotions?
In fact, “negative” emotions are our powerful warning devices that help us to reconnect to our Selves, our purpose, our meaning, and our deepest desires. But we need to understand:
- what emotion we are feeling in the moment,
- what is its significance,
- what deeper lesson we are trying to learn and, lastly,
- what is the greater gift we are striving to claim.
In this course, Honing Your Happiness, you will learn how to “dissolve” misery by removing the illusions of negative thinking that have locked your negative emotions into a “fixed mindset” pattern. Using multiple techniques, you will focus on releasing negative emotions for 11 days as you learn how to move from one negative emotion to a less negative emotion.
My burning passion is to teach you how to raise yourself from negative emotions into happiness in 11 days.
I have total faith in your ability to successfully breakthrough to happiness!
Do you find yourself doomed to misery...
or are you "doomed" to joy?
Let's start with:
How Happy Are You?
Here’s How Happy Americans Are Right Now.
According to a recent poll by Time Magazine, less than one in three Americans is happy.
Global Poll Shows 53% of the World Is "Happy" --
But What About the U.S.?
“Mar 27, 2012 - Despite global economic gloominess, 53 percent of the world is "happy" while 13 percent of global population reports to be unhappy.... The United States was less happy compared to the global average, with a net happiness of 33 percent. Other countries of note included Germany at 68 percent, Brazil at 63 percent, Canada at 47 percent and Japan at 47 percent...” America still remains unhappy in 2017 with 35 % reporting they are unhappy.
So why are Americans so unhappy?
"The rate of antidepressant use has surged 400% over the last decade, according to the CDC, though that may also be due to the heavy marketing of drugs like Zoloft, Lexapro and Paxil. The percentage of workers testing positive for illicit drugs such as cocaine, amphetamines and methamphetamines has increased for the second consecutive year in the general U.S. workforce, according to a 2015 workplace urine drug test of more than 6.6 million tests by Quest Diagnostics, a company that provides clinical laboratory tests on potential and/or current employees for companies. Some 4.7% of the general U.S. workforce tested positive for illegal drugs in 2014, compared with 4.3% in 2013
We are zoning out with gadgets
Computers help us escape from our emotions, studies suggest. Sixth grade children who spent five days at a summer camp without technology had significantly improved emotional cognition — recognizing different emotions on others — than those who spent 4.5 hours a day at home texting, watching TV and gaming according to a new study of 100 kids by researchers at UCLA and published in the latest edition of the journal Computers in Human Behavior. Understanding emotion is a critical skill, especially for young children, says Yalda Uhls, co-author and senior researcher at the Children’s Digital Media Center at UCLA. “It’s been linked to positive academic and social outcomes,” she says."
Another indicator of unhappiness is the degree of stress that people report.
"Who's feeling stressed? Young adults, new survey shows ages 18-33 — the Millennial generation — are plenty stressed, and it's not letting up: 39% say their stress has increased in the past year; 52% say stress has kept them awake at night in the past month. And more than any other age group, they report being told by a health care provider that they have either depression or an anxiety disorder.
The online survey of 2,020 U.S. adults 18 and older, conducted in August by Harris Interactive for the American Psychological Association, has been taking the stress pulse of Americans since 2007.
On a 10-point scale, where 1 means "little or no stress" and 10 means "a great deal of stress," the 2012 average is 4.9.
But for Millennials, it's 5.4. . .
Overall, the survey finds that 20% of Americans report extreme stress, which is an 8, 9 or 10 on the stress scale.
Among other survey findings:
- 35% of Americans say their stress increased in the past year.
- 69% of those with high stress say their stress increased in the past year, compared with 13% of those who report low stress (a 1, 2 or 3 on the scale).
- In the past five years, 60% of those surveyed have tried to reduce their stress; 53% are still trying.
- Top stressors include money (69%), work (65%) and the economy (61%).
- For Millennials, top stress sources are work (cited by 76%), money (73%) and relationships (59%). The economy came in fifth, at 55%, just behind family responsibilities, cited by 56%."
You are not alone.
But you can find the resources to turn your life around.
So, what can you expect when you sign up for the first module of Honing Your Happiness Course?
This first module is focused specifically on removing the barriers that keep you stuck in negative emotions. I had a wonderful professor in my counseling training who used to say, “You can take the dirty bathwater out of the tub one teaspoon at a time or you can just pull the plug.” My intention for this course is to pull the plug out of your life’s accumulated “dirty water” and empty you out as quickly as you are willing to allow so that the waters of joy can start moving through you.
Each day for 11 days, you will be focusing on a specific negative emotion and finding the gift that each emotion is trying to teach you. As you watch each daily video and do the activity, you will develop an inner relationship with your emotions and work with them in a new way. You will get daily access to support in our closed Facebook group where you will find inspiration and thought-provoking insights for yourself and from other individuals as they process and translate their emotions. Once you sign up, you will have lifetime access to this Facebook group, so whenever you find yourself slipping back into old patterns, support will continue to be there for you.
More than a “therapy group”, this group will be moderated by Christine Light- therapist, teacher, coach, and parent- who will ensure that participation and commentary is supportive and safe for all. Rather than staying stuck in the past with a “fixed mindset,” you will explore physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual approaches to your particular life issues that help you find your most effective “growth mindset.”
Christine became a therapist as the resulting desire to resolve her own depression. She has worked with battered women, severely physically and sexually abused adults and children, veterans, and other trauma survivors. She has worked with multiple 12-step programs, various addictions, and disabilities. Whether she is at work in a group home for teens, hospital setting, adult groups, or individuals, her primary intention is to always maintain a safe and uplifting atmosphere that provides trust and promotes growth. After working as a high school and middle school teacher, she realized her goal to coach and reach out to families to teach emotional self-regulation is imperative for the reduction of violence and growth of the planet.
You will not just heal your life and learn how to master your own emotions in this course. You will become a powerful influence and uplifter for others’ who struggle to manage their emotions.
Each and every one of us is doomed to joy,
destined to love,
inextricably connected to the One.
